Bangkok's Lumpini Park is a green oasis just a kilometer from where we live. Tomorrow I'll show you some close-ups ... today, let's just admire the green and the blue (or, not-so-blue?).

This was the funniest person/thing combination that I saw in my recent visit to Lumpini Park. Is this guy way over dressed for his machine!

PS: Do people still use these things?

PPS: I get it. Smoking cigarettes is out, wine bottles are out, Champagne drinking from glasses is in, dogs are out, cats are in.

PPPS: Riding bikes is sometimes OK.

"Coyote", a famous Bangkok Mexican restaurant delivers via "Food by Phone".

PS: Our Hindu door God doesn't dine as well.

Shame on me! I contributed to Bangkok's air pollution by reading my Kindle while sitting in my air conditioned (engine running) car. No, I don't have bad traffic to blame; I was idling in Lumpini Park.

The original Nana doesn't look very inviting at noon. Maybe that's why they built a new Nana that's not bothered by sunlight.

PS:

CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE
FILMING NOTIFICATION

Dear Resident:

Magic City, an original television series, is being produced entirely on location in South Florida by Starz Miami Production LLC in association with the Starz Entertainment Cable Channel. A one hour dramatic series, it features Miami between the years of 1958 and 1963. The series stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Grey's Anatomy, P.S. I Love You, Watchmen) and Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Children of Men, 21 Grams) The creator, Mitch Glazer is a Miami Beach High Alumnus and is known for The Recruit, Scrooged, Off and Running.

Your neighborhood is being featured as a key location because it evokes the style of the era this show wishes to convey.

The filming on Riviera Isle Drive occurs at 510 Riviera Isle Drive including the street, with camera angles looking south, the reverse of this shot will be in front of 600 Riviera with camera angles looking north. Then we move to 1000 Riviera Isle Drive. The filming will take place on Tuesday July 26th, 2011 from late afternoon to approximately 1 AM.

At 510 Riviera Isle Drive on the street, we film a school bus picking up a young boy as he and his mother wait outside their home. We have a rain effect for this scene, and the rain towers will be in the median of Rivieria Isle Drive.

During filming we will have traffic diverted to one side of Riviera or the other depending on which side of Riviera we are showcasing. Fort Lauderdale Police will ensure local traffic will safely travel on one side of Riviera Isle Drive during the filming.

Because Magic City is a period piece, we would greatly appreciate your cooperation in parking your vehicles as far into your driveways as possible. In the event that a car is seen in the frame of the picture, we will place vintage cars on swales or request permission to block present-day cars from certain homeowners.

We also request that you schedule any lawn maintenance, tree trimming or other noisy work to be completed by 2 pm, if at all possible on Tues., 7/26 or on another day of the week so as to assist us in filming while allowing traffic to flow safely on Riviera.

Working semi trucks will park on SE 25th Avenue north of the guard gate, Hibiscus and Sunset Drive. Smaller stakebed trucks will bring equipment to the filming sites.

We have an empty lot next to 1000 Riviera Isle Drive where we will have tents to hold the background talent working at 1000 Riviera Isle.

As you may already know, the film industry is a clean air industry that provides for the purchase of goods and services throughout the community as well as creates jobs for those of us who live in the community.

If you have any concerns or inquiries regarding the filming of Magic City in your neighborhood, please contact Liz Elwell 954.494.4197 or the Magic City Locations Department at (305) 635-2717.

Thank you in advance for your support of the film industry in Fort LauderdaleRit.

PPS: The post brought a surprise

Today, rather than getting into the contents of yesterday's mystery box, I went instead to get a sandwich in Bully's Pub ... an important fixture in the general Nana area. Tomorrow I'll 'open' the box.
