The new toy has some fantastic 'instrumentation'. The pop up display screen is so way ahead of Mercedes. (*)

(*) OK, I haven't seen the '09 MB's dashboard.

PS: And, the Z4 is friendly with its siblings.

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Today we drove the Z4 to Ayutthaya for lunch with some of Watcharee's family. Oh, the dog on the porch does not remember me as he barked when I tried to pet him. His name is Sinsod ... how ironic.

While on my morning magazine-run (*) at The Oriental I chanced upon a new book about Bangkok: "Bangkok Then & Now". Crammed with B&W photos of Bangkok taken up to a century ago and paired with color shots of the same places 'today' (2008) this is a wonderful book. I am posting here only pairings that are near to us ... either physically, now or in the past ... or, places that we know well. The last and the penultimate shows where we live now.

(*) Usually the New Yorker hits the stands on Thursdays ... as does This Week.

Tomorrow is the King's birthday (Thai Father's Day) so we have a long weekend here in Thailand (Saturday, Sunday and Monday (*)). The following weekend will also be long as Constitution Day falls on next Thursday. (**)

Today is a sketch day. Political for two and just funny for one. (***)

(*) When the King's birthday fall on a weekend day the following Monday is deemed a holiday.

(**) That means lots of nothing-getting-done until December 14th.1

(***) Yes! I left the house today.

1 But, there is a scheduled meteor shower on that day; does that mean we can loaf until the 15th? And, then the pagan holidays are only nine days away.

PS: Thai cigarette companies warn you NOT to smoke (nudge-nudge).

PPS: The Latest Japanese Swimsuits (Why Bother?)

Saturday, December 5, 2009 (The King of Thailand has his 82nd birthday)

OMG, my daughter, Patty, has a 'friend' who was just convicted of murder in Italy. It wasn't just a simple murder; there was some '3-way' in play as well.

My excitement today was limited to playing with my new top.

Soon we shall be getting a new food source: Oasis Food Pavilion will open its doors just seconds from the Athenee Residence lobby. Up to now the closest source of shelf food has been our 7/11 (Seven/11? - 7/Eleven?).

On a more lofty note compare these shots taken with either a "Night" mode or a "Regular" mode. Both sets were taken about 30 minutes after sunset.

Monday, December 7, 2009 (In lieu of H.M. The King's Birthday) (*)

Do you recognize these two cache sitters?

(*) A nasty anniversary in Hawaii.

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Add to global warming: Geo-cache by car (*). I'm looking here at my Bangkok cache "Holding Something Up".

(*) This really only works well in parking lots.

Next: Part II
