A miracle at River Garden!

At first it was just a bite sized piece of Dutch cheese wrapped in red wax. But, when the casing was pulled back the silhouette of the Virgin Mary giving birth to Baby Jesus was revealed. And, when this ever so cheesy Virgin Mary was laid to rest on a soft white blanket (paper towel) another miracle bloomed: the Divine evacuation of the holy placenta (afterbirth).

I was hoping that this item would set an e-Bay record ... but, sadly, both Mother and Child died on the birth bed after complications set in.

Tuesday, August 12, 2008 (The Queen's Birthday - Mother's Day in Thailand)

Today Thai papers are awash with news about former and current leaders.

Thaksin and his wife failed to return to Bangkok after seeing the Opening Ceremonies at the Beijing Olympics. Rather, he and his wife boarded a flight to London where they will probably ask for asylum.

George W. Bush is still in Beijing and there are rumors that he will seek asylum in China rather than face war crimes trials almost everywhere else. His argument that Cheney was the real 'decider' and that he, George, was only following orders is not recognized as a legitimate defense in the rest of the world. Enroute to Beijing, the W stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel here in Bangkok. Shunning the nearby American Embassy, the W figured that what was good enough for the American Ambassador was not good enough for the W. He chose the most expensive suite in the hotel for his one night stand. It cost the American taxpayers at least 79,000 baht (@ $2,400.00) ... not counting room service and mini bar charges. Of course, any in-room services provided by people from the Nana Entertainment Complex would not have been found on the formal hotel bill.
